"She was one of the few Makelaar's that seemed comfortable using English!"
She was one of the few Makelaar's that seemed comfortable using English. Buying a House in any Country is complicated and stressful, in the Netherlands you can do it yourself or use a Makelaar to act on your behalf. We selected Alice Bakker as she had a great reputation, and was one of the few Makelaar's that seemed comfortable using English.
Her terms are simple, and she clearly defines what you can and cannot expect from her during the buying process.
After a false start with an overpriced Property, when we had selected our property, she was actually on Holiday in China. This made no difference at all, she rapidly organised a colleague to view the apartment with us. In coordination with them, she arranged a deal for an option to prevent other bids whilst we negotiated, as well as an incredible deal for the contents we wished the previous owners to leave behind.
All of this was managed by Alice from halfway around the World, via eMail, Mobile and SMS. She managed to drive down the price way beyond what we thought was achievable, while keeping the existing conditions. Such was her expertise that the Banks valuation showed we had more than 16k equity before completing the Purchase.
Working in concert with Expat Mortgages and Mol Notaris, she crossed every T and dotted all the i's, managing the deal all the way to the transfer day. We are so happy we selected Alice Bakker and cannot recommend her highly enough to anyone seeking to purchase accommodation. Always cheerful, professional and highly responsive, she reduced the normal anxiety of this kind of transaction massively.
